Wahala No Dey Finish

This is a real life experience shared by a friend...

This life is indeed a basket..

On my way to work this morning something funny happened as I was about to cross the road, there was a young lady standing by my right we only exchanged pleasantries (we had the time. it was a highway and we stood for quite sometime to cross).

Next thing an "okada man" halted right in front of us. He extended his right arm to the lady and gave her a business card, she was perplexed, I could see how she was struggling to process what just happened, I was perplexed too. Cos wetin? Mildly she asked "what is this?". Me sef follow dey ask the question for my mind. She was still struggling to make sense of what was going on. "Same here, dear" I said to myself. The Okada man pointed at a vehicle a few meters ahead and said that the man in the car had asked him to give it to her. The card had something like "NNPC" written on it.

She looked toward the vehicle. Me sef follow. It was a 2021 Hilux. The okada man immediately rode to the vehicle and I could see something change hands. After a few seconds the vehicle moved away. My gaze moved from the vehicle fading in the distance to the young lady by my right. I don't know what I was expecting to see. Did her jaw drop? I wondered. A sudden clarity of perspective set in. This lady and I were standing very close to each other you'd think we were standing together. Did it not occur to that guy that I may be her boyfriend or in any of those domestic unions with her?

The guy no even send me. Before the sudden clarity, I was very interested in what will happen to the card. I guess the man that sent the okada man was too. He waited just a few seconds, time enough for Aunty to put the card in her bag. It was the audacity. Was I expecting her to throw it away? I don't even know. The "NNPC" card for the moment had more value than 10k, or 20. I was observing her demeanor. The clarity that hit her on sighting the car and probably making more sense of what's written on the card was evident.

Back to me. "What if na my babe?" I thought. You no go know if na to form say nothing dey happen as per mature guy abi na to collect card from her hand go throway am.

My brother, just hustle. Na the message wey I get from wetin happen this morning. Hustle o make you sef use business card dey wow people.

Ekwucha kwam! ( I've said my own)

Now my Question is, as a lady, what will be your reaction if you were standing close to your boyfriend and caught up in such situation and as a guy, how would you react in such situation if it were to be your girlfriend?

  2. I won't take offense, first and foremost I want the best for my Babe and if such opportunity comes her way then she should take it, secondly I trust her well enough not to get into any nasty thing with the man in question.

  3. Superb read dear.
Well, firstly it's a business card given to her & therefore I have no business taking or snatching the card away. It's up to her what she does with it.
And secondly, if I were standing with her & it happens, I won't be at the least bothered or perturbed in any way because the trusts exists abi initio... knowing her, she'll probably ditch it.

  4. You said what if he's my boyfriend? Torh! I will still collect the card and check what's the content. If I were with my hubby I will still collect the card and check for the content.
For boyfriend: I will entertain any relationship from him
For hubby or hubby to be: I won't entertain any relationship. Only business
    Thank you dear

  6. If I was to be standing with my boyfriend, of cause I’m keeping that Card, I’m going to make sure that man becomes a huge client for my brand. I don’t have to ditch every other man cos I’m dating someone. I’ll entertain friendship with the hilux dude and of course ship in my business. I’m blessed with eloquence and it works all the time. Toodles
